AgReserves Featured in “Harvest of Faith” Documentary Series

BYUtv and Church News have collaborated to produce a new three-part documentary series, “Harvest of Faith.” Part 3 spotlights Farmland Reserve as an integrated investment auxiliary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and AgReserves as a commercial ag enterprise, separate and apart from the Church’s Welfare operations. The AgReserves episode will air on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 9 a.m. MST and will be available for streaming the same day at BYUtv.org.

Part 1 of the series aired on Nov. 23 and profiled several farms operated by the Welfare & Self-Reliance Services Department of the Church to provide for those in need. Part 2 aired on Nov. 30 and looks at food processing and distribution facilities managed by Church Welfare.

Check the BYUtv site for all three “Harvest of Faith” episodes.

The 29-minute AgReserves episode highlights three of our operations – AgroReservas do Brasil, AgriNorthwest, and AgroReservas de Chile – by blending stunning visuals and insightful interviews with farm managers to show how these farms grow both food and people.

As the AgReserves episode opens and in transitional comments between the farm segments, Doug Rose, President and CEO, explains the mission and purpose of AgReserves. Noting that agriculture is a stable and safe investment, Doug explains, “What sets us apart as an investor and as an operator is that we are always looking to the long-term in all that we do.”

AgroReservas do Brasil

Spanning 74,000 acres, AgroReservas do Brasil has earned national recognition for excellence in the production of corn, soybeans, cotton, and corn and soybean seeds. General Manager Rubens Paim Quadros emphasizes the importance of cultivating both crops and people. “Just as we work on operational excellence in cultivating the best crops in the fields, in the same way we want our people to grow intellectually and as leaders,” he says.

That philosophy is reflected in the farm’s leadership program, which supports employees through education and hands-on development. Francisco Neto’s journey – from cowboy to university graduate to Central Functions Manager – illustrates how opportunity and mentorship can transform lives.

Employees are encouraged to acquire new skills and are congratulated by everyone on the team for their progress. Rubens closes the Brazil segment by emphasizing that “we believe that people make all the difference.”

AgriNorthwest

Sweeping shots of row crops fields and harvests set the stage as AgriNorthwest General Manager Blaine Meek shares his path from childhood allergies to being part of leading a farm that irrigates over 100,000 acres and employs more than 1,000 people during harvest. “I’m living my childhood dream,” he says, while quickly adding that farming keeps you humble.

Traci Jensen, GM at River Point Farms, walks viewers through the packing and processing operations she leads that produce 2 million pounds of onions per day. Her story blends rigorous professional expertise with personal legacy, shaped by 17 years working alongside her father in the early years of her career. Traci also reflects on breaking barriers in a male-dominated industry.

Blaine and Traci know what it means to farm with heart, heritage, and hope.

AgroReservas de Chile

Striking video of long rows of olive and walnut trees introduce AgroReservas de Chile General Manager Eladio Arias. Eladio shares how his mother instilled in him a love of education. After becoming an engineer, with support from AgReserves, Eladio earned two master’s degrees in the U.S. and is now pursuing a Ph.D. back home in Chile to share that same love of education with his children that his mother shared with him.

The farm is a model of efficiency, with smart design that minimizes machinery turns and maximizes output. The olive harvest lasts two months; walnuts, just two weeks. And with Chile facing a serious drought, the team has leaned into research and data that help manage water wisely.

For Eladio, there is a spiritual element to farming. “This is not just us doing good work,” he says. “It is something higher. This is something more elevated.”

Mission and Purpose

In his closing comments, Doug Rose underscores AgReserves’ mission and core values, “We not only grow food, we do grow people as well.”

Adds Doug, “Growing crops, feeding the world – that’s a noble endeavor – and being part of it is really special.”

In addition to the specific airdate and time for the live feed, the “Harvest of Faith” documentary series will be available for streaming on BYUtv, a free, family-friendly streaming service accessible via smart TVs, cable, and satellite in the U.S. Again, the AgReserves episode will air on BYUtv’s live feed on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 9 a.m. MST.
