Improving Access/Outcomes While Reducing the Cost of Healthcare Delivery Across America

Healthcare is at a Crossroads in America.   We need to invest in healthcare to make it more accessible, improve outcomes, and drive down the overall cost of healthcare. Washington is in the process of reducing funding for Medicaid & Medicare. Many of the government employees that administer these programs will be fired, resulting in the poor and elderly being disproportionately shutout from accessing critical, life sustaining health care programs, like physical therapy.

Please take a few minutes to read the attached message from MVPT CEO Braden Hill to his company’s Physical Therapy patients regarding his hopes for improving healthcare and the quality of life of our citizens. I received this email last week as a patient of MVPT and I feel it addresses some of our current issues and some possible future solutions and I wanted to share it with my contacts that follow me on LinkedIn.

During the coming weeks, Crossroads Parcel Consulting will transition to Crossroads Healthcare Consulting, with a focus on helping the consumer access and manage healthcare in America.  It’s obvious that we need to reduce the cost of delivering healthcare to Americans, but we need to do this with the intent of improving access to all Americans and making healthcare more affordable to everyone.

MVPT Physical Therapy Community and Patients,

At MVPT Physical Therapy, we remain deeply committed to leading the way in improving access for our patients, delivering the best outcomes, and providing exceptional patient experiences. Every day, we strive to improve the way we provide care and enhance the health and wellness of the communities we serve. Yet, as many of you have experienced, there’s significant opportunity to improve how our healthcare system works.

Today, we’re asking for your support to advocate for critical changes at the federal level. Two bipartisan bills are currently in Congress, and both would greatly enhance preventative care and access to physical therapy nationwide. We are asking for your support on two critical initiatives:

1. Stopping Addiction and Falls for the Elderly (SAFE) Act (H.R.1171): Every year, one in four adults over the age of 65 experiences a fall, with nearly 40,000 individuals tragically losing their lives, and millions dealing with challenging injuries and supportive care. This legislation would provide Medicare beneficiaries with an annual fall prevention visit, significantly reducing the risk and severity of falls for seniors. Beyond helping our seniors avoid injury, falls cost Medicare $50 billion annually, and better prevention and more physical therapy is expected to reduce that by more than $10 billion.

Beyond being good policy (better outcomes for patients and lower costs overall), this is also personal for me.

My grandfather was one of the better athletes I’ve ever met. He played college basketball, won state championships in pole vaulting, was a veteran, and he maintained an active lifestyle well into his late 70s. He walked constantly, volunteered frequently, and was by most measures, a beacon of health.

As he entered his 80s, my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and my grandfather’s focus shifted away from his own health and became focused on hers. While he still had the same mindset that fueled him for 80 years, he gradually lost the balance he had always had, and a morning walk to the kitchen ended up being his last.

I can honestly say that we were shocked – and thousands of families across the country share that type of shock every single day. Walking to the kitchen, climbing stairs, standing on a chair to reach a cabinet… these are everyday actions that impact people all across the country. While we cannot prevent all of these instances, we can still have a meaningful impact on those we care about and individuals all across the country.

2. The Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act of 2025

As we’ve all experienced, the cost of healthcare– and nearly everything else – has increased dramatically in recent years. Despite this, Medicare reimbursement for physical therapy has fallen by 10%, with an additional 2.8% reduction, effective January 1st.

This trend is unsustainable and threatens patient access, particularly for Medicare patients. At MVPT, we remain committed to serving Medicare patients. Across the industry, however, continued cuts have forced many other providers to move toward cash-only practices, leaving communities with little access to essential care and causing longer wait times for evaluations.

We ask you to join us in advocating for the Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act of 2025. If this legislation passes, it will reverse the recent 2.8% Medicare cut, helping to ensure that physical therapy remains accessible and sustainable for all patients and communities. This is crucial for protecting access to quality care.

Once again, we ask for your support in helping to protect your community's access to vital healthcare services.

Thank you for your consideration. We truly value the trust you place in MVPT Physical Therapy, and we remain deeply committed to providing high-quality care and an excellent experience to our patients and communities. Together, we can work to shape a better healthcare system, and we look forward to seeing what we can accomplish in the years ahead.
