📢 New standard for fuel-cell powered trains IEC TC 9, the technical committee for railway equipment and systems, has published IEC 63341-1, the first standard for fuel cell power systems onboard rolling stock from trams and metros to high-speed trains and locomotives. "IEC 63341-1 describes design requirements to ensure fuel cell systems comply with railway applications," explains Julien D’Arbigny, lead of the TC 9 team. The standard also covers safety, reliability, protection requirements and validation processes.
