Summary

Joint-innovation-labs are collaborative environments where organizations come together to share resources, expertise, and ideas to solve complex problems or develop new solutions. By pooling strengths, these labs accelerate breakthroughs and drive progress in fields like technology, healthcare, and manufacturing.

  • Build partnerships: Seek out organizations with complementary skills or perspectives to tackle challenges that are too big for one team alone.
  • Share real insights: Encourage everyone involved to contribute practical knowledge and front-line experience to refine solutions that work in real-world settings.
  • Pilot and scale: Test new ideas in diverse environments before rolling them out widely, so you can adapt quickly and make a bigger impact.

【Kawasaki × T-Hub Explored a New Chapter of Japan–India Industrial Innovation 🇯🇵🤝🇮🇳】 What does co-creation really look like between a 100+ year-old Japanese industrial giant and one of India’s most dynamic startup ecosystems? At KHI’s innovation hub “Kawaruba” located next to Haneda Airport in Japan, we have explored how the future of robotics, hydrogen, and decarbonization can be reimagined through a Japan-India partnership, together with T-hub, India largest innovation hub in Telangana state. Japan is an engineering powerhouse, yet faces structural hurdles: aging population, closed innovation models, and risk-averse corporate cultures 🇯🇵 India, on the other hand, is bursting with startup energy, bold experimenters, and large-scale digital infrastructure—but lacks deep industrial grounding 🇮🇳 Together, they fill each other’s gaps, representing more than open innovation—it’s a blueprint for mutual industrial acceleration. What can be built 🤝 📌 Problem-Driven Innovation - Jointly develop 10 real-world problem statements spanning robotics deployment, hydrogen logistics, and carbon-neutral production. - A high-focus workshop which refine these into a few sharp co-creation missions, with active input from startups, engineers, policymakers, and investors. 📌 Reverse Innovation in Action - Indian solutions—once considered “frugal tech”—are now tested against challenges of the Japanese market, including energy infrastructure, disaster resilience, and automation at KHI scale. - A rare ‘Out-In’ innovation model, where ideas travel from emerging to developed markets. 📌 Field-Proven Execution in India - KHI’s next-gen industrial & social robotics solutions can undergo PoCs in Indian manufacturing settings, with funding and support from such as JICA. India serves as a living lab before global scaling. 📌 Sales & Market Enablement - Kawasaki Robotics India can gain traction with new go-to-market strategies, regional SIer partnerships, and pilot showcases in #Telangana. 🌱 Kawaruba as the Stage Kawaruba isn’t just a lab or showroom—it’s a signal. A space built to challenge silos, to turn heavy industry into agile experimentation. A place where co-creation isn’t a slogan, but a structure. As India rises as a global industrial hub and Japan seeks to reassert its innovation edge, these types of partnerships are no longer optional. They’re essential. This was just the first step. But momentum is real. The handshake between ecosystems has been made—now it’s time to build. I am pleasure working with you all 🙏 川崎重工業株式会社 Kawasaki Robotics | Koichiro Higaki T-Hub | Setu Sharma Phani Kondepudi Priyanka Ravala Raj Thota Fatema Masalawala Bhanu Harsha Saeed Girni Subhankar Chakraborty Zeel Jain Harshadha Chaganti Sushma Sahithi Boddu Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) ANSCER Robotics

Joint Innovation > Internal Optimization Warehousing breakthroughs don’t come from perfecting an internal spec. They come from redefining the problem with someone who sees it differently. That’s the power of joint innovation—a shift from control to collaboration, from scope to outcomes. Because in today’s supply chain environment: • No single company can keep pace with complexity alone • No single system can solve every last-mile detail • And no “plug-and-play” solution ever stays plug-and-play for long Take RFID. It’s a technology with massive potential—and yet it cycles in and out of favor, not because it lacks capability, but because it often lacks clarity of purpose. RFID suffers from: • Infinite possible use cases • Unclear business value articulation • Poor integration with upstream and downstream systems That’s what happens when innovation is attempted in isolation. We optimize tech, but we don’t solve problems. Joint innovation flips the model: • Shared risk means solutions are pressure-tested, not promised • Shared insight brings front-line context into the design • Shared value ensures ROI is measured in outcomes, not just deployment milestones A recent Accenture study showed that companies engaged in co-innovation partnerships were 5x more likely to launch solutions that exceeded performance expectations compared to those developing in-house. So ask yourself: Is your next breakthrough sitting in your R&D queue—or across the table from a strategic partner? The future of warehouse transformation won’t be built for you. It’ll be built with you. #JointInnovation #CoCreation #WarehouseIntelligence #SupplyChainInnovation #PartnershipStrategy #Verity #IntelligentAutomation
