One effective technique for regaining progress is a mid-point reset, and it involves stepping back to revisit the core problem the project set out to solve. Over time, teams can become task-focused and disconnected from the original goal. Realignment starts by identifying what’s been completed, what’s currently drifting, and what remains unclear. And it's how you restore visibility. The next step is to isolate one or two priorities that will create the most clarity or unblock the team’s progress. Finally, rather than changing the scope, adjusting the project rhythm such as simplifying workflows, clarifying ownership, or tightening communication can make a major difference. This technique helps bring structure back into the process without overwhelming the team or disrupting the flow of work. Save this post, mid-point resets are the kind of thing you don’t realize you need until the project starts drifting.

Simple is SO HARD. A quick recommendation for leaders—especially in scaling orgs. Once a quarter, do this: ✏️ Write down what you believe are the top 3 priorities for each role on your team. ✏️ Compare that to how each person actually spends their time—processes, KPIs, comp plans, activities, tool updates, meetings, etc. ✏️ Identify the misalignments. ✏️ Simplify to support the priorities. Cut where you can. Then do it again next quarter. I guarantee new layers will have crept in—meetings, tools, processes, requests. Most of it with good intent. But often, the signal gets buried under the noise. We’re great at adding. Rarely do we subtract. We bolt on well-intentioned layers until the system starts collapsing under its own weight.
