NBC Los Angeles

Who We Are

NBC4 Southern California (KNBC-TV) is NBC's flagship West Coast station, where our award-winning journalists in front of and behind the camera cover all Southern California has to offer, including breaking news, pursuits, earthquakes, city council scandals, cold cases, investigative pieces and more.

NBCLA joined forces with Telemundo 52, providing news in English and Spanish, and explaining to each viewer how the news affects them. After more than a half-century at NBC Studios in Burbank, NBCLA now broadcasts from Universal City.

NBCLA's mission is to figure out how every story matters for you.

History of NBC Los Angeles

Originally settled at the Burbank Studios, NBC4 was founded in 1949.

After 52 years in Burbank, NBCLA made its big move from the historic studios at Alameda and Olive to the Universal Lower Lot, a jaunt away from the theme park, City Walk, and next to sound stages, in 2014.

The new state-of-the-art facility on the Lower Lot that NBCLA and Telemundo 52 now call home used to be a Technicolor Film Labs from 1964 to 2012.

The Telemundo Network became a part of the NBCUniversal family in April 2002.

Across the plaza is the NBCUniversal News Group: NBC News, which includes shows like Nightly News and The Today Show. The Telemundo Network is also in the same building.

NBC4 and Telemundo 52 cover a large area throughout Southern California that encompasses multiple counties – LA, Orange, Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Santa Barbara across more than 41,000 square miles. That represents about 17 million people where 242 languages are spoken.
