As the home of Silo, Shrinking, The Studio, Severance, and other shows that start with the letter “S,” Apple TV (formerly Apple TV+) is sneakily making the case that it’s one of the best streaming services for original content. And while it recently raised its price to $12.99/month, it’s still one of the best values in streaming especially since it’s ad-free. Now, Apple is running one of its best promotions in months, just in time for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
You can claim the Apple TV Black Friday deal through Apple’s site above, or get it through Amazon via its Prime Channels hub here.
How Much Is Apple TV Usually?
Apple TV’s regular rate is $12.99/month, so the Black Friday $5.99 deal is one you’ll want to take advantage of. Subscribers can share an account with up to five family members. Netflix’s Standard monthly plan, in comparison, costs $15.49 per month.
Apple TV is also home to Major League Soccer. Previously, subscribers needed a separate MLS Season Pass subscription through the Apple TV app, but Apple is streamlining its subscription by removing the second paywall. Starting in 2026, Apple TV will be home to MLS as well as F1 without a separate subscription.
Once you start your Apple TV subscription, you can watch shows and films through the Apple TV app. An Apple TV device is not required — Apple TV is available on Roku, Fire TV, Chromecast with Google TV, native TV operating systems like LG, Sony, and Vizio, as well as gaming consoles like PlayStation.
What to Watch on Apple TV
Apple’s emphasis on original programming makes it one of the more unique (and affordable) streaming services. Unlike studio-backed streamers like Paramount+ or Max, which have deep vaults of content to draw from, or Netflix, which has extensive distribution deals, Apple TV primarily hosts Apple-produced TV shows and movies.
Original films include the Martin Scorsese-directed Killers of the Flower Moon and the Brad Pitt and George Clooney two-hander Wolfs, while shows include Silo, Severance, The Morning Show, and Slow Horses. The streamer is also bringing back its signature hit, Ted Lasso, for a fourth season. The latest hit is Pluribus, a sci-fi show from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan.
