2025 Season Preview
GOALKEEPERS
After uncertainty entering 2024, goalkeeper is one of the most stable positions entering the new season after a career year for Eric Dick, coupled with Jacob Randolph establishing himself as a capable No. 2 in limited work as a rookie. Former Hounds Academy player Ben Martino rounds out the group after two seasons in MLS Next Pro.
Positional Breakdown
DEFENDERS
Having utilized them often as a center back trio last season, the Hounds bring back Luke Biasi for a fourth year, Illal Osumanu for a third, and Sean Suber for a second season in Pittsburgh. Guillaume Vacter and Max Broughton are
rst-year pros bringing further depth at center back, while pro debutant and Puerto Rico international Beto Ydrach
can play back or as a holding mid. Perrin Barnes adds athleticism and projects as a key contributor at wing back.
MIDFIELDERS
Once again, the Hounds prioritized mideld stability in the offseason with Robbie Mertz and Bradley Sample as central pieces and captain Danny Grifn and Jackson Walti as tireless pieces in the No. 6 role. Junior Etou has
been outstanding as a left-sided mid or wing back, and Aidan O’Toole returns for that role on the right. New to the group are three college players with excellent attacking skills in Charles Ahl, Jason Bouregy and Jorge Garcia.
FORWARDS
After a year in which goals were sometimes hard to come by, the Hounds bring back only late-season addition Bertin Jacquesson and USL Academy player Pablo Linzoain. The team’s biggest offseason acquisition, Augi
Williams, is set to take the striker role, providing a target and creating space for Jacquesson and the midelders. At 6-foot-4, rst-year pro Brigham Larsen is literally a “big” addition, adding a size element the Hounds have lacked.

2025 Outlook
The Hounds come off a season with two distinct halves — struggling in the rst half before a second-half
turnaround that led back to the postseason — and this year’s squad aims to keep that late-year momentum.
With 13 players returning who nished the season with the team, the Hounds are set up to have some
continuity from a season ago. Though all-time assists and appearances leader Kenardo Forbes elected to
retire, the team’s veteran group returning is led by captain Danny Grifn, hometown hero Robbie Mertz
and 2024 Goalkeeper of the Year Eric Dick. Luke Biasi, Junior Etou, Illal Osumanu, Sean Suber and Jackson Walti — all regular starters at the end of 2024 — are also back in black and yellow.
The highest-prole offseason move was the addition of Augi Williams through free agency, bringing one of the top ve scorers in USL Championship history to Pittsburgh to pair with 2024 loanee Bertin Jacquesson, who signed a permanent deal with the Hounds after making a splash with ve goals in his eight matches
after arriving.
