Smart manufacturing is increasingly vulnerable to cyber attacks as digital systems expand. A strong cyber security framework built on international standards and conformity assessment is essential. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/etrSt4ez Manufacturing is now one of the most targeted sectors, with attackers exploiting the connectivity of modern industrial automation. Standards like the IEC 62443 series help secure operational technology by guiding risk assessment, system design and protection throughout a system’s life cycle. Conformity assessment through IECEE provides trusted proof of compliance and supports manufacturers as regulations tighten worldwide. People are the weakest link Technology is only part of the solution. Most breaches stem from human error, which is why the IECEE Certification of Personnel Competence scheme is expanding to support future cyber security skill needs. As threats increase, robust standards, trusted assessment and trained people are key to keeping smart manufacturing secure. #SmartManufacturing #CyberSecurity #Industry40 #ConformityAssessment #OTSecurity #ManufacturingSecurity #DigitalSafety #IECEmeringTech

The AI International Summit wrapped up yesterday, marking an important moment for global AI governance. IEC Secretary-General and CEO Philippe Metzger reflects on the strong collaboration across governments, industry, academia and civil society - all united in exploring how international standards can support the safe and trustworthy use of AI. With the release of the Seoul Statement, the message is clear: the time to act is now. As AI rapidly reshapes our world, we must take a socio-technical approach and ensure people remain at the centre of this transformation. Standards are essential tools for responsible AI, but implementation cannot rest with standards bodies alone. Industry, regulators, companies and policymakers must work together to embed socio-technical considerations into products, policies and governance frameworks. The IEC is committed to this mission. The Seoul Statement is both a call to action and a commitment to advancing safe, inclusive and trustworthy AI for all. The Seoul Statement sets an ambitious vision, but delivering on it requires more than standards alone. It calls for cross-sector commitment to embedding sociotechnical considerations into every AI system, ensuring people, inclusivity and fundamental rights remain at the centre of this transformation. Earlier today at the International AI Summit in Seoul, the World Standards Cooperation leaders explored how we can advance AI through standards and collaboration to shape a responsible and trusted future. We are already embedding sociotechnical considerations into our work, but we know there is still a long journey ahead. The Seoul Statement represents our commitment to advancing this effort and continuing the conversation. Learn more about the statement here: https://lnkd.in/evxz24mP The IEC is committed to safe, responsible AI adoption. We are integrating sociotechnical considerations into standards, informed by emerging areas such as human–brain interfaces and bio-digital convergence. But, collaboration is key. Implementation cannot rest with standards bodies alone. Industry, regulators, companies and policymakers must act now, integrating sociotechnical dimensions into products, policies and governance frameworks. By working together, we can accelerate responsible AI adoption and deliver on the vision of a fair, safe and trustworthy digital future for all. As technology evolves, so do the societal questions, and our work evolves with them, ensuring AI serves everyone everywhere. #SeoulStatement #IAISS2025 #IECEmergingTech #AIEthics #TrustworthyAI #ResponsibleAI #GlobalCollaboration #Innovation
