Allow lossless playback to Chromecast Audio device

Chromecast Audio is an older but still popular device for streaming. It supports FLAC up to 24-bits / 96 kHz so it should be able to handle Spotify lossless streams, yet it's currently limited to lossy quality. Please allow lossless playback on CCA.

My DAC connected to the Chromecast also shows that 48kHz is being received, but according to Google this is not bit-perfect. The Node 2i connected to the same DAC shows 44.1kHz with the same track from Spotify Premium, this is bit-perfect. My device does not show any differences between: Tidal, Apple, Amazon, Qobuz or YouTube via the Chromecast  If you connect the iPhone to the DAC or the previously mentioned HD streaming services, you will hear the differences. Despite upsampling Chromecast to 48kHz, the sound reproduction lacks quality compared to bit-perfect of the Node 2i, This quality can definitely be improved with equipment from Grimm Audio, for example. Numbers don't tell the whole story.

I for one couldn’t care less about everything that’s been said above – I just want Spotify to acknowledge Chromecast Audio users.

CD quality is good enough for me. I just want that!

I'm fascinated by the number of comments mentioning bit-perfect audio.

I simply want to hear the best possible quality that my devices are capable of.

When a compressed file is streamed, I get a compressed output. However, when I stream lossless, my device can extract the best possible quality from that lossless file. That's what's important to me! Knowing that I don't have to accept any loss of quality.

The Chromecast isn't bit-perfect, but connecting to the Chromecast With Google TV)) is possible here. The likely cause is that the old Chromecast Audio can no longer be updated. Which causes the firmware to become outdated, and eventually every app becomes unusable.
