[Desktop] Select default sound device for Spotify Connect

Currently Spotify defaults to using the default sound device when launched, it would be neat if you could choose which sound device you want to use instead in the options screen.

Thanks

Hey everyone,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Take care.

Can confirm alternate location. Also had to create a new shortcut to edit the target field so I no longer have the pretty one but if it gets this feature to work... This could also be due to me using it as a standard user and not an admin.

Other then that, works as advertised.

Finally!!! 5 years waiting for this. Cant belive it. Now I don't need to use 3th party apps...

It seems to work fine for me on Spotify on my PC. Not sure which one I am
using! Think that it worked on the downloaded programme and the app?

Keith
It works with the pre-installed windows store version. You need to do a
search for "spotify.exe" to find the executable and then follow the
instructions as listed.

There seems to be some confusion out there, so I'll make a few points that will hopefully help some of the readers noting some have already been said:

1.  This feature is to enable the Spotify app on a Windows 10 PC/laptop to select which sound card playback device the music will be played through.  It has nothing to do with connecting with mobile devices.  It is not a mobile device feaure.

2.  It originally only worked with the Spotify (win32) program downloaded and installed from the Spotify website.  I've just checked and confirmed it now works with Windows Store app (UWP) too.

3. Spotify.exe file should be located at:

 - C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\SpotifyAB.SpotifyMusic_zpdnekdrzrea0 (Windows Store version)

- C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\Spotify.exe (old Spotify website download/install win32 version)

4. Yes it does work, but note that if the selected sound card is a USB connected device, if you subsequently launch Spotify without the USB device plugged in Spotify won't run again.  "vorbeiei" worked out how to fix this by editing a config file, read through the thread above for details (page 29).

This works great for me, so far. Any release date in mind about this "feature" added to the actual Spotify release?

works like a charm, thanks! Haven't noticed anything breaking but I'll post if I find anything

Great feature! No more systems'ding with my music 🙂

I tried and globally it works perfectly well.

Couple of comments though :

- when spotify starts with windows (run in the registry) the redirection of hte audio does not work. I changed the registry and added the command you gave in the post => OK. It should be good to add this.

- after first launch, I tried to change the audiot output in the windows tray and then spotify blocked completly. After a reboot everything was OK => to follow

Thanks again & regards

Yves

Still no exclusive mode/WASAPI support though, is that right?
