Congratulations to Renuka Iyer, MD on being named the new Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®). This is a significant leadership appointment for one of the world’s most influential alliances of leading cancer centers that publishes free, evidence-based, expert consensus-driven guidelines for cancer prevention and care. Dr. Iyer brings a strong legacy of clinical leadership and academic excellence from Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she serves as Professor of Oncology, Section Chief of Gastrointestinal Oncology, Vice Chair of Faculty Affairs, and Medical Director for Medical Oncology across the Roswell Park Care Network. She also serves as a Professor of Medicine at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo. Her deep expertise is backed by rigorous training and sustained contributions to the field. Fellowship-trained in medical oncology at Roswell Park, Dr. Iyer studied at Grant Medical College, University of Mumbai, followed by residency at Cornell University School of Medicine. She is board certified in internal medicine and oncology, has received multiple recognitions, and has published hundreds of peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, and book chapters focused on rare cancers, immunotherapy, biomarkers, and quality of life.
