The article highlights: ✅ SB 261: Climate-risk reporting By January 1, 2026, companies must publish climate-related financial risk reports aligned with TCFD or IFRS S2, covering governance, strategy, risk management, and metrics and targets. ✅ SB 253: Emissions disclosure Scope 1 and 2 reporting begins in 2026, with scope 3 following from 2027. Third-party assurance requirements escalate through 2030, making early preparation essential. ✅ Key readiness steps Verdani outlines actions companies can take now—reviewing applicability, assessing climate hazards, strengthening data systems, coordinating across finance, legal, and operations, and engaging external experts to support reporting and assurance.
