Cricketer
Yuzvendra Chahal has finally broken his silence on the ongoing chatter surrounding his ex-wife Dhanashree Verma and the rumours of infidelity that have followed their separation. For those not in the know, Dhanashree who is currently a contestant on the show 'Rise And Fall' had said during her conversation with Kubbra Sait that she caught Chahal cheating on her two months after their wedding. Now the cricketer has finally reacted to this claim.
Dismissing the speculation, Chahal described the claims as “baseless and exhausting”. He also clarified that he has moved on from this phase of his life. He told Hindustan Times, “I am a sportsperson and I do not cheat. Agar koi two months mein hi cheat karta toh itna lamba relationship chalta kya? For me, this chapter is over, done and dusted. I have moved forward with my life and everyone else should do, too."
Reflecting on his marriage, which lasted over four years, cricketer Yuzi Chahal said the allegations of cheating don’t hold any truth. “Hamari shaadi 4.5 years thi. Agar two months mein cheat hua hota toh kaun continue karta? Mai pehle bhi bol chuka hun ki mai past se nikal chuka hun. But some people are still stuck there… unka ghar mere naam se chal raha hai toh they can continue doing that. I am not concerned or affected," he stated.
He also said that this is the “last time” he is speaking on his past. “Mai iss chapter ko bhula chuka hun. Koi kuch bhi keh deta hai, and social media pe chal jata hai. 100 baatein chalti hain, but the truth is only one, and those who matter, know it. Mere liye chapter closed hai. I don’t want to address it ever again," he said.
Now focused on his future, the 35-year-old emphasised that his priority remains his personal growth and career. “I am focusing on my life and on my game,” he concluded.
Chahal and Dhanashree tied the knot in December 2020 after connecting during the Covid-19 lockdown, when he joined her online dance classes. The couple filed for divorce in February 2024, and the separation was finalised earlier this year, with the Bombay High Court granting them an expedited settlement before IPL 2025. Reports suggest Dhanashree received an alimony of ₹4.75 crore as part of the agreement. The day Chahal and Dhanashree's divorce got finalised, he wore a tshirt which said, 'Be Your Own Sugar Daddy'. When asked about it on Raj Shamani's podcast, he revealed that he wore this t-shirt to send out a message to someone. "I didn’t want to create drama, I just wanted to send a message, and I did,” Chahal said, referring to the now-notorious T-shirt that sparked speculation online.
At the moment, Yuzvendra is rumoured to be in a relationship with RJ Mahvash. It all started when they were spotted together having dinner. Post which, Mahvash has been with him, all through the IPL this year as he played for 'Punjab Kings'. Recently, Mahvash had a collaboration with Samay Raina where he took a dig at Yuzvendra. Neither Chahal nor Mahvash have confirmed their relationship.
Dhanashree and Chahal's divorce got finalised right before the IPL as it was being reported that the cricketer wanted to finalise it and finish all the formalities before that so he could just concentrate on IPL. The cricketer played for Preity Zinta's Punjab Kings this year.
