ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 Schedule
The 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup marks the 10th edition of cricket’s premier short-format global tournament. Scheduled to be hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), this event sees India entering as defending champions after their 2024 triumph over South Africa in the final.
No official schedule or venues have been announced yet for the 20-team competition but it is expected to be held in February-March 2026. Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai are expected to host the matches in India with two-three cities in the running for contests in Sri Lanka.
As a biennial event organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the T20 World Cup has progressed to a two-year cycle since its inception in 2007 in South Africa.
Co-hosts Sri Lanka and India have earned direct qualification, joined by the top eight teams from the 2024 edition and the three leading nations in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings.

Italy’s qualification for the 2026 tournament marks their debut in a major ICC event, highlighting the growing global footprint of men’s T20 cricket.

The 2026 T20 World Cup features 20 participating teams: India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, United States, West Indies, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, Canada, Italy, Netherlands, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Nepal, Oman, and the UAE.
The tournament format mirrors the previous edition: 20 teams are divided into four groups of five, with round-robin play in each group. The top two teams from each group advance to the Super 8, forming two groups of four based on pre-tournament seedings for a second round-robin. The leading teams from the Super 8 then move to the knockout stage, culminating in the championship match.
