Magnitude 5.9 earthquake alert determined to be false alarm

DAYTON, Nev. (KOLO) - A Thursday morning alert for a magnitude 5.9 earthquake has been confirmed as a false alarm.
Lyon County officials say the USGS confirmed the false alert, which went out at around 8:00 a.m.
They say they are waiting for additional information, but that there is no threat to the public.
