Meet Zachary Miller, P.E., at our Swedesboro, New Jersey office. Zach is a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer focused on developing unique solutions for industrial and petrochemical facilities. He says, "Many of the sites we work with are several decades old and still reflect historic engineering practices that no longer meet current codes. Balancing sensible redesign with cost impacts can be challenging, but it’s rewarding to see clients investing in improvements that extend the life and reliability of their facilities." Our team recently assisted a refinery in replacing an aging heat exchanger to improve process efficiency and maintain safe, reliable operations. They chose AED for a full-service approach—delivering FEED, detailed design, and integration all in-house, without relying on multiple contractors. We provided civil and structural design, instrumentation, controls, and piping integration, with a full pipe stress analysis to ensure the exchanger could operate safely and reliably within the existing system. Dan Nawrocki and Rowan alum Sarina Trapani represented Allied Resources Group (ARG) at the Rowan University Fall STEM Career Fair. Our participation focused on engaging emerging talent and providing insight into careers in engineering and technical services. Sarina, who joined Allied Engineering and Design immediately after graduating in 2020, shared her firsthand experience transitioning from academia to a professional engineering role. Dan highlighted the breadth of career opportunities across ARG, emphasizing the importance of connecting with and cultivating the next generation of technical professionals.

In response to stringent EPA regulations, we partnered with a global specialty chemical company to install a state-of-the-art emissions control system. This upgrade replaces an outdated wet scrubbing system with advanced technology, improving fuel efficiency and significantly reducing harmful emissions. With the U.S. EPA's recent mandate requiring chemical plants to cut emissions of carcinogens like ethylene oxide and chloroprene by nearly 80%, our proactive approach ensures compliance while supporting cleaner air for surrounding communities.
