The clock is winding down on Giving Tuesday, and if you haven’t yet made a donation to BHCHP, you can do so now with double the impact! All gifts up to $50,000 will be generously matched by the Biogen Foundation today. https://bit.ly/4pd06nq Why support BHCHP? Read these three moving testimonials from our patients (and three from our staff!) on why we need your help now more than ever. With impending changes to federal funding on health care, we’ll need to rely more on private donations to bring our lifesaving services to our patient population wherever they are. Our sincere gratitude to all who have already contributed to our Giving Tuesday campaign. Thank you for allowing us to make such a profound difference in our patients’ lives.

When we first met Maxine* in our clinic, she was visibly distraught and in tears. She was suffering from abuse by her then-partner and wanted desperately to leave this situation behind. While her son came under the care of the Dept of Children and Families, she spent two months receiving lifesaving services at our Barbara McInnis House respite facility – she diligently followed her care plans and later transitioned to a family shelter and was reunited with her son. Fast forward several years, Maxine sends us an important life update: she graduated law school and along with her graduation cap/gown photo, she writes, “If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be here today. Thank you to BHCHP for helping me be who I am today.” With your ongoing support, BHCHP can confidently stand by our patients with an open heart and help them weather the roughest storms of their lives. Please consider making a gift today on Giving Tuesday where all gifts up to $50,000 will be generously matched by the Biogen Foundation. To donate, click here. https://bit.ly/4pd06nq

This Veterans Day, we salute the selfless contributions of all Veterans in our community – their dedication to our nation’s well-being is deeply inspiring and we’re truly honored to be able to provide care to Veterans experiencing homelessness. We also remember our dear friend Christine Loeber whose name is eponymous with our satellite clinic located inside the New England Center and Home for Veterans. We lost her too early but her indomitable spirit and fervent passion for helping Veterans remains with us today. Our deep gratitude to her family and friends for continuing to raise critical private support for the work of BHCHP. With your ongoing care and commitment, we’re able to walk alongside our Veterans, sharing hope and healing, listening to their stories, and guiding them with compassion and dignity. Thank you!

This month, our staff organized health fairs at multiple clinical sites, providing education and resources on breast cancer awareness. During the week of Oct 6-10, patients were connected to same-day mammography screenings at Boston Medical Center (BMC) Mammography, and we had a “pink day” at work to show support for people affected by the disease. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, and although the disease can also develop in men, the rate of death from breast cancer continues to decrease today due to increased awareness, screening, and better treatment options. For our patients, preventive medicine is of utmost importance to reducing mortality and late-stage diagnoses. Additionally, these health fairs also highlighted vital information on domestic violence awareness and its long-lasting impact on physical and mental health. At BHCHP, we’re committed to creating a safe and caring environment for our patients, giving them the necessary support to achieve their health and wellbeing goals.
