What makes density work, and how can Mumbai grow up instead of out? KPF Principal Elie Gamburg will explore these questions when he takes the stage at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) 2025 Asia Conference in Mumbai. In “Humanising the Megacity: is Mumbai Dense Enough?” Elie will present examples of density from cities around the world. His presentation will explore the opportunities that arise from living in close proximity and the ways design can address the potential difficulties of density – from fostering areas of inspirational cultural exchange to solving gridlock through mixed-use development. The CTBUH 2025 Asia Conference will take place from December 10-12. 📅 Thursday, December 11, 2:45 PM-4:00 PM 📍 Grand Hyatt, Mumbai 🔗 Find out more and register here: https://bit.ly/3KrxhnW #CTBUH #CVU #Density #KPF

“What do we have to build to avoid catastrophic climate change?” Mustafa Chehabeddine addressed the question as a panellist for the University of Oxford’s MSc in Sustainable Urban Development, a course developed with The King's Foundation. Building on almost a decade of engagement with the MSc programme and The King’s Foundation initiative, Mustafa was joined on the panel by London Assembly Member Caroline Russell, Leslie Ohomele, Sowmya Parthasarathy, and Dr. David Howard, who chaired the discussion. The panellists offered unique perspectives in response to the provocation, exploring opportunities and challenges within the built environment. The panel discussion concluded with a Q&A session attended by a diverse and engaged group of students from around the world. At KPF, the scale and impact of our work shape our approach to sustainability and drive our continued pursuit of better, more viable solutions for people and the planet. Join KPF Principal John Bushell at the City Architecture Forum, where he will be discussing the design of 70 Gracechurch Street. The 33-storey tower comprises the reuse of a former department store, with a new office structure built above. The design exemplifies KPF’s “Keep and Add” approach to adaptive reuse and aligns with the owners’ aspirations for a market-leading, sustainable redevelopment. An earlier scheme, involving demolition and rebuild, was consented in 2020. On purchasing the site, Stanhope and Ontario Teachers’ set ambitious targets for an overall step change in the sustainability agenda. Learn how the design team worked through this more complex brief to define an optimal solution. Hosted by JJ Sarralde of The Townscape Consultancy, the event will include a presentation by John, followed by a panel session with Nick Jarman of Stanhope PLC, Richard Ward of DP9 Limited, and Russell Whitehead of Robert Bird Group. 📅 Tuesday, December 2 | 18:30–20:30 📍 Temple Bar, EC4M 🎟️ Book a ticket: https://lnkd.in/e-y3m9zH #Architecture, #CityPlanning #AdaptiveReuse #CityofLondon #70GracechurchStreet #CAF #CityArchitectureForum
