From Reflection to Action: Achieving CHRO Goals in 2025

From Reflection to Action: Achieving CHRO Goals in 2025

In 2025, Chief Human Resource Officers (CHROs) are navigating a rapidly changing workplace landscape. A recent SHRM survey of 212 CHROs highlights the top priorities for the year: leadership and manager development, change and organization design, and employee experience.

Leadership and Manager Development

More than half of CHROs (51%) prioritize developing leaders who can drive organizational success. This involves creating programs that align with business goals, identifying future leaders, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. As you reflect on your own organization, consider these questions:

  • How can you enhance leadership development programs to ensure they align with your broader business objectives? What steps can you take to identify and nurture future leaders?
  • What initiatives can you implement to foster a culture of innovation among your leadership ranks? How can you encourage continuous learning and adaptability in this group?

Change and Organization Design

Thirty percent (30%) of CHROs focus on adapting organizational structures to meet strategic goals. This requires being agile in response to market shifts and ensuring that changes support broader business objectives. Ask yourself:

  • How prepared is your organization to adapt quickly to changing market conditions? What strategies can you implement to enhance agility and responsiveness?
  • Are your organizational design changes aligned with overall business goals? How can you work more closely with other executive leaders to ensure strategic alignment?

Employee Experience

Twenty-eight (28%) percent of CHROs prioritize improving employee experience to boost performance and retention. This involves focusing on well-being, mental health, and work-life balance, as well as personalizing experiences to meet individual needs. Consider:

  •  What initiatives can you implement to prioritize employee well-being and mental health in your organization? How can you tailor experiences to meet diverse employee needs?
  • How are you currently using data analytics to understand and improve employee experience? What metrics can you leverage to inform decisions and enhance engagement?

Preparing for 2025

As you look ahead to 2025, it's essential to reflect on your current strategies and consider what actions you need to take to prepare for these priorities. Ask yourself:

  • What are the biggest challenges you face in implementing these priorities, and how can you address them?
  • How can you leverage technology, such as AI, to support your HR initiatives and enhance productivity?
  • What partnerships or collaborations can you form with other departments or external partners to drive success in these areas?

By reflecting on these questions and taking proactive steps to address them, you can position your organization for long-term success in a rapidly evolving business environment.

Don’t forget to tap into your peers at PSPS to learn what they are doing to address these priorities in their organizations. There are many ways to do that:

Tell us about your background and experience.

I'm a talent management leader with deep experiences in talent strategy, leading global teams, learning and leadership development, organizational effectiveness, succession planning, performance management, engagement, culture, assessment, coaching and internal mobility.  I've worked in a variety of roles from learning, talent technologies and operations, program and project management, organizational effectiveness and talent partners at TE Connectivity, Weight Watchers International, and Guardian Life Insurance.  I was most recently the VP, Talent & Organizational Capability at Quaker Houghton.

What is your superpower?

Bringing together multiple stakeholder groups to align around a path forward and getting it done.  I love to be involved in the complex, ugly, complicated projects that can have a huge positive impact on the organization.

What are your target toles?

Director / Senior Director / VP of Talent Management, Organizational Effectiveness, Performance & Culture, Talent Partner, Learning & Leadership Development

What value do you get from PSPS?

The ability to collaborate and reach out to an amazing network of talented HR leaders to discuss the opportunities and issues we're facing, share ideas and solutions and truly help each other make a bigger impact.  The professional development workshops and networking events are a great place to learn and grow.

What do you enjoy most about the Transition Group?

The willingness of people to help each other is fantastic.  There is nothing better than helping to make a connection/phone call/email that can help someone in the group get closer to landing that role.

What do you do in your spare time?

All things Philadelphia professional sports when I have time between running my two kids to practice, games, competitions, etc.  My children, are exactly two years apart and share the same birthday.
