Outpatient Performance
Langan’s Reach and Local Expertise Help Bring Healthcare Closer to Home
Langan Principal Christopher Cirrotti provided civil engineering services on one of New Jersey’s Ambulatory Care Centers almost three decades ago. The idea was to transfer various same-day surgery, outpatient, imaging, and other clinical procedures out of hospitals to make them more accessible to patients. Today, large-scale outpatient centers are cropping up in many communities, which is proof of how effective this model has become.
While some providers choose to develop outpatient and ambulatory care centers as ground-up development on new sites, others repurpose office and retail space, much of which has been underutilized since the COVID-19 pandemic. Langan brings healthcare expertise to these complex projects, whether tasked with designing foundations on difficult sites and stormwater management systems for new facilities or producing detailed interior 3D laser scans for building conversions.
A key consideration for any healthcare project is prioritizing the patient experience. Langan’s multidisciplinary team often integrates landscape architecture to enhance site wayfinding and accessibility and to create outdoor respite areas for patients, visitors, and staff.
“The healthcare industry continues to evolve to better serve communities and meet the current and future needs of patients, regardless of their proximity to a hospital,” said Cirrotti. “We derive incredible professional and personal satisfaction working with our healthcare clients, helping them develop medical facilities that go the extra mile, so their patients don’t have to.”
