Every Cisco Live for five years: "This is the year Meraki and Catalyst finally speak the same language." Every year, reality was messier. If you're running both platforms, you know the pain. You're not managing two dashboards—you're maintaining two completely different mental models for the same job. Meraki lives in the cloud with simplified abstraction. Catalyst Center runs on-premises with full IOS XE access. Both are valid. Neither is wrong. But they require different training, different troubleshooting, different thinking. When you need consistent policy across both? You write it twice. That's not unified. That's integration theater. November 2025 brought something different. Not promises. Timelines. Global Overview was in beta in November, GA expected by year-end. Cloud-managed fabric Q1 2026. Access Manager GA Q4 2025. The question isn't whether the promise is real anymore. It's whether execution actually reduces operational burden—or just trades one complexity for another. Just one topic in my Building Toward Amsterdam series.
