AARP constantly sending renewal mail is a pain and very wasteful! I have until12/31, and for you to continue to send out reminders is just ridiculous! Just stop it!

Husband, Jim, died in July. He was here at home and was able to be at home until his death. I was the sole caregiver and was the one who provided meds and care. Right now I'm having memories of his dying time, which was two days of difficult breathing, heart rate changes, and deepening coma. He did not have any pain, but his dying time was not peaceful. He was not in pain, but I was. And while I can talk about him and our time together, 45 years, I really need to talk about his dying time, and the time after his death, when I wrote the obituary, made cremation arrangements and drove myself to pick up the ashes. There is no one who wants to hear that story. And I need someone to hear, and I need to tell it. He did have 3 adult children, but they "wanted to give me space" and did not contact me. I feel like I am just going down that spiral, and not sure what will happen.

Smart strategies for caregiving finances BROKEN still. it has been over 8 hours and still Domino GC broken even after watching videos multiple times. States you have already watched videos but the pop up window to CLAIM Domino GC is broken and only has the word TEST on it. Looks like 19 others have also commented on this issue on lesson page. Update- still broken on Dec 01 @ 1:46 pm. Videos show 300 point value now instead of 600 points, but anyone who did videos earlier shows video completed already but does not allow to redeem with points. Still unable to receive credit for viewing videos and to redeem for Domino GC. Also, the word 'TEST' has been removed on the pop up page where the word "CLAIM' should be. Still waiting for the fix. Update - still broken on Dec 02 @ 10:10 pm. They are working on it? Update - still broken on Dec 03 @ 1:31 pm Update still not functional on Dec 04 @ 4:03 pm UPDATE - NOW THEY ARE OUT OF STOCK on Domino GC on Dec 04 @ 11:33 pm What a farce??!!!*** Update - busted on Dec 05 @7:49 pm. They did not fix this. Instead the Domino GC is out of stock and no longer appears on the Extra Credit. Two videos completed still show NO checkmark, but screen bottom displays the task was completed. Completed all four tasks, but not getting acknowledgement for completion. Update- still broken?? on Dec 06 @ 9:54 pm. Wow, did not realize how many people are very angry about this. So many comments in the Extra Credit assignment page. Seems to be ongoing monthly issue. Wondering, after watching all the scam videos, are they scamming the very people, that are supposedly trying to help.?? Update - skip Dec 07 Update - still not there on Dec 08 @ 12:32 AM. Trying all different days and times. STARTING TO WONDER IF AARP CAN BE TRUSTED, CANNOT FIGURE OUT A $5 DOMINO GC ISSUE?? SAD DAYS.....

What decorations past or present, have you created for the holidays? Wreaths, centerpieces, placemats, tree decorations, garland, or anything else? For a couple of Thanksgiving dinners, I've hollowed out miniature pumpkins and filled them with flowers for centerpieces on the tables. In the past I've loved stringing popcorn, or cranberries and making garland strands for the tree. Or taking oranges and inserting whole cloves into them, then hang them in the house for a wonderful scent. I think making things for the house or for others. helps with feeling in the mood for the holidays.

FROM THE ARTICLE. Learn about our hands-on testing process for mattresses, pillows, mattress toppers, and sheets. See how we rate and review our top picks. Edited by Daniel Bortz, AARP. Published December 05, 2025. The products and services discussed on this page have been independently tested and researched. AARP may earn a commission through affiliate links, but this does not influence our objective reviews. Proceeds earned go toward supporting our mission. Getting quality sleep is important for everyone. Our sleep supports our physical health, cognitive function and mental wellbeing. But as we age, sleep disorders and disruption become more common, according to the National Institute on Aging. And research estimates that up to 50 percent of people age 65 or older have sleep problems, compared to 22 percent of the general population. There are a variety of reasons why older adults may not get as restful sleep, including reduced melatonin production, health conditions, medication and hormonal fluctuations. While a new mattress can't solve these problems, it may make it easier for you to fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. Factors like better pressure relief and temperature regulation can help reduce pain, limit tossing and turning at night, and keep you cool. FROM THE ARTICLE. Original Medicare Enrollees Face Fewer Part D Choices. The number of stand-alone prescription plans drops, while the popularity of Medicare Advantage plans rises. By Tony Pugh, AARP. Published December 05, 2025. Key takeaways! (1) Fewer stand-alone Part D plans than previous years. (2) Prescription drug coverage secure in original Medicare. (3) Medicare Advantage prescription coverage is stable. (4) Consumer-friendly legislation revamped Part D coverage. (5) Use Medicare open enrollment to compare drug plans. Medicare’s market for Part D plans has shifted in response to growing enrollment in private Medicare Advantage plans, and the number of stand-alone prescription drug plans available to original Medicare beneficiaries continues to decline in 2026. In 2020, 53 percent of Part D enrollees were enrolled in stand-alone Part D drug plans used by beneficiaries in original Medicare. By 2025, only 42 percent of Part D enrollees were in stand-alone drug plans, while 58 percent received Part D coverage through their Medicare Advantage plans. My husband of 45 years died after just a 3 week hospital stay of AML. He had been healthy our entire married life except for the summer before when he contracted Lyme's disease. Maybe that disguised his fatigue he must have been feeling shortly before we went to the hospital for shortness of breath. Anyway, he and I never thought he wouldn't be returning home from that hospital stay. So lots of tears, lonely days and nights and all the rest. Unbelievably, two of my three adult children are getting married in 2026. We are all over the place with happy and sad emotions - my daughter won't have her Dad to walk her down the aisle. I'll be by myself thru all the social events that are part of each wedding instead of having my husband by my side. I just changed my primary AARP membership from his name to mine which led me here. My faith tells me I'll see him again but its a hard road to travel as a widow.

Used an AARP sponsored insurance for my new motorcycle. Just found out that Foremost Insurance charged me for coverage I didn't ask for or need. Total for this scam $500. I'm getting back $114 for unused coverage, but how does AARP protect seniors-they don't. Discussed this with AARP to no avail. BEWARE! AARP is not on your side!!! I also dropped United Health sponsored by AARP, another scam. PS, they pay their top brass millions to cook up wallet draining schemes-don't fall for it!!! RR

FROM THE ARTICLE. How We Research, Test and Review Home Health Monitoring Products. Learn about our testing methodology for home health monitoring products. See how we rate blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, and more. Edited by Daniel Bortz, AARP. Published December 03, 2025. The products and services discussed on this page have been independently tested and researched. AARP may earn a commission through affiliate links, but this does not influence our objective reviews. Proceeds earned go toward supporting our mission. Home health monitoring devices, like blood pressure monitors, glucose monitors and pulse oximeters, can be an important part of aging with agency. Whether the data is transmitted electronically to a physician for monitoring or you’re monitoring on your own, knowledge is not only power — it’s safety. Nearly half of all adults in the U.S. have high blood pressure, or hypertension, according to the American Heart Association. That number rises significantly as we age. By our 70s, more than 80 percent of us will have hypertension. While conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes are common, they’re treatable and easy to monitor at home with the right devices. These products aren’t diagnostic. You should see your doctor for a formal diagnosis and treatment or monitoring plan. But if you’re ready to purchase a monitoring device to use at home, we can help.
