Need advice; I have very little knowledge about plumbing so all of this info is as much as I could retain from speaking with my plumber.

My main sewer line had a break. We knew this because we had a back-up. The guy came out, blasted it/cam'd it, saw the break. They come out to repair it, dig it up, apparently my whole pipe has disintegrated due to the corrosive nature of the soil our house is built on (1940s house in Michigan). They are saying they need to replace the entire line and the connected storm drain. The current price is at $18,500. They have already trenched through concrete across my basement floor and it's looking like they'll end-up outside, in my front yard. Does the pricing sound ... normal? Is this problem something that has happened to anyone else? Any advice helps. Thank you!!

  • sounds legit if they've already had to trench concrete inside your house Commented 2 days ago

I’m voting to close this question because pricing changes due to too many factors based on country / region. Commented 2 days ago
  • You are paying for permits, cost of materials and labour. I have to close also because it is price/cost question and not how to do. Commented 2 days ago
