Sengottaiyan’s switch to TVK hasty decision: Sasikala

Chennai: Expelled AIADMK leader V K Sasikala on Friday expressed displeasure over former party colleague K A Sengottaiyan's decision to join actor Vijay's Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, calling it a hasty move."One should not take major decisions out of anger. Those who follow the footsteps of leaders such as M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa, who lived for the people, should avoid such actions,'' Sasikala told reporters after paying homage to the late chief minister J Jayalalithaa at her memorial in Chennai.Referring to the ongoing controversy over lighting of Karthigai Deepam in Thiruparankundram, Sasikala recalled the 2014 and 2017 court directives that upheld the existing customs. "During Amma's regime in 2014, the case came before the high court and a two-judge bench ruled that the existing practice must continue," she said.She questioned why the DMK govt did not approach the Supreme Court to uphold the verdict given by the two-judge bench. "It raises suspicion whether the govt also wants to politicise the issue," she added.
