This achievement followed a coordinated operation involving the Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and CRPF, which resulted in the interception of an SUV, leading to the recovery of 50,000 highly potent WY/R tablets and the arrest of two suspects.

Silchar: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking along the interstate border, Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Manipur Police and CRPF, seized a consignment of narcotics worth approximately Rs 12.5 crore in Jiribam district on Saturday.Acting on specific intelligence regarding the movement of contraband, the joint team launched an operation and intercepted an SUV suspected of carrying the drugs. During the search, security forces recovered 50,000 WY/R (World Is Yours) tablets, a potent synthetic drug.

According to officials, two individuals travelling in the vehicle were apprehended on the spot. Mobile handsets were also recovered from them. “The apprehended individuals, along with the seized narcotics and the vehicle, have been handed over to Jiribam police for further legal action and investigation,” an official source said.The operation highlights the continued focus of security forces on dismantling the narco-terror network in the region. Officials emphasised that the seizure underscores the commitment of Assam Rifles to combating activities under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and safeguarding youth from the drug menace, an Assam Rifles official said here.
