Man gets life term for killing father for refusing money to buy alcohol

Bijnor: Observing that the crime was not only a violation of law but also an assault on family bonds and social morality, a court here on Thursday sentenced a 30-year-old man to life imprisonment for murdering his father, 55, for not giving money to buy alcohol in 2021. Additional district and sessions judge Ram Avatar Yadav also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict.

ADGC Jitendra Pal Rajput said the incident took place on the night of April 10, 2021, when Sudhir Kumar strangulated his father, Chet Ram, in their house at Askaripur village under Noorpur police station of Bijnor district.

Based on a complaint by the deceased's nephew, Sher Singh, a case was registered under section 302 of IPC against Sudhir. In his complaint, Sher Singh stated that Sudhir demanded money from his father to buy alcohol. When refused, he tied his father's hands and legs, locked him inside the house and went out.

A culpable homicide case was initially registered against Sudhir, and murder charge was later added after the son told police that he strangled his father to death. The post-mortem report confirmed death by strangulation.
