North Goa: A massive fire at the popular Arpora nightclub Birch late Saturday killed 25 people, including five tourists, and injured six. Flames erupted around 11:45 PM during a belly-dance performance to the song ‘Mehbooba’, engulfing the first-floor dance floor within seconds. Around 150 people were present in the DJ area when panic ensued. Electric firecrackers are believed to have struck the wooden ceiling, igniting the blaze. Smoke filled the club, forcing some guests into the basement kitchen, where 23 victims suffocated. Two charred bodies were later found on the staircase. A viral video shows the crowd dancing even as flames raged, capturing the chaos and tragedy.
