My Question or Issue
I was excited to see managed accounts for <13 users announced for US users yesterday. However, having followed the directions, I've been unable to do so in my account.
I can confirm that I am in the US on a Family Premium plan and have two available accounts. When I go to manage users, the only options I have are the normal invite for users older than 13 and Spotify Kids. Has it not actually rolled out yet or am I experiencing an error?
None. When I asked support last week they said "within 5 days", which would mean last Monday. It's Thursday and I don't see it. I asked again but ran into their bot that gave a really woolly statement:
"This means some users may receive access earlier than others, even within the same region. The rollout process can take longer than initially estimated as we ensure everything works smoothly for all users."
Not one person has confirmed seeing it. I'm beginning to think Spotify is lying in much the same way Google does when stating similar but actually enabling it months later.
Same in the US. No option to "Switch to a managed account." That's on the help documentation, but definitely not in the app.

My Question or Issue
I want to add one of my kids to my Spotify family premium account. I don't want to create a kids account with the Spotify Kids, and Spotify won't allow me to create an account while putting his actual birthdate in. The obvious easy solution is just to lie and change the year. However, there is supposed to be a new managed accounts option (Managed accounts for Premium Family - Spotify), however, following the directions on any device nets the same result -- there is no option to "Add a listner aged under 13", and invites only send standard invites.
Is there some obvious solution that I'm missing? The option simply isn't there.
Just so you all know, it's rolled out to my account, finally. UK user.
I’m in Australia with the same problem. I’ve tried on my phone and PC. I’ve tried reinstalling the app on both devices and the buttons DO NOT appear. Spotify promises something is “now available” with great hoo-hah then doesn’t follow through with actual making it available. They LIE.
There also doesn’t seem to be any way of posting a question to the community. Only replying to others’ questions. God knows how they posted them.
Hey folks,
Thanks for joining the thread!
As mentioned in this recent post on Spotify's Newsroom, managed accounts were launched in some new markets - the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, and Netherlands, but this feature is still being rolled out so that might be the reason why you're not seeing it as an option yet. We don't have an ETA on when the roll-out will be complete, but we really appreciate your feedback about this!
In the meantime, make sure to check out what was mentioned in the thread in regards to troubleshooting, as well as keep your app updated to ensure you always have access to the latest features and fixes.

But that would mean the rollout takes almost a month by now? Because I'm still not seeing the option after jumping through all the hoops to stay up to date as possible 😉 next time an announcement should clarify that the rollout could take some time, all the blogs and news sites mention the new option ... but only a few of them see it, this creates unnecessary dissatisfaction among users.
Managed Accounts are still not available to many of us in the United States. The feature was supposed to have been available to 90% of the United States user-base by November 3rd. We're on November 28th now and it is still missing for many of us in the United States. I've spoken with Spotify support on multiple occasions to get any semblance of an updated status on the rollout, but they are all clueless about the rollout and have no information to provide. Why Spotify's developers and/or project members are not providing information for the support team to be able to provide to users is anyone's guess. I had cancelled my Premium Family subscription (though the current period was still active) right before the announcement of the feature due to Spotify still showing pornographic audiobooks and playlists to my small children despite the Explicit option being disabled already (thanks to the Explicit tag only being applied when a provider self-reports the content as being explicit. If a provider doesn't say something is explicit, it is shown to anyone of any age). When I spoke with support about the new feature to find out whether it would allow me to moderate my children's content better since Spotify was obviously not going to do it themselves, I was told that I needed to be actively enrolled in a Premium Family plan subscription, despite my subscription still technically being active until a date past the November 8th date they said I should see it at. So, I renewed in hopes I'd see it and be able to test it out before the subscription fully expired, in order to gauge its efficacy, yet here I am on November 28th and still haven't seen any sign of the feature being available soon.
Spotify should never had made the announcement that the feature was available if it truly wasn't, and should be providing regular project status updates to all of us that pay for their company to remain in operation.
Edit: The feature showed up on my account today, December 1st, 2025, almost 1 full month after it was said (or supposed) to be available to 90%+ of the United States. I guess, at least it showed up before 2026 so I can test it before my next renewal dates to determine if it solves the issue of inappropriate and incorrectly tagged content being shown to minors.
As of today, the feature is available for me!
I was finally able to set it up yesterday as well. Hopefully others are seeing it rolled out. Only took a month+ after being announced! 😡
Does anyone know when Managed Accounts or Spotify for Kids on iOS is being introduced in Poland? I bought Family plan and tried to add children account, but Spotify for Kids is unavailable on App Store and there is no option to create Managed Account for kid..
Hey, @ArcanoxGG,
Neither of the features have launched in your region yet, I'm afraid. We're always looking for opportunities to enhance the user experience for everyone though, so your feedback is greatly appreciated!
