#GivingTuesday is here! Across the country, communities are standing up to protect their air, water, and future—like the community along Oregon’s Santiam River, which blocked a proposed 3.5‑million-chicken factory farm that threatened local waterways. After years of organizing, local farmers and residents won a major court ruling in May 2025 that stopped the facility from moving forward. SRAP stands with frontline communities, and your support makes victories like this possible. Supporters who give $150 or more before December 4th will receive a limited-edition We All Thrive Tote Bag. 🌱 Help us build a fairer, healthier food system for all. 💡 Did you know USDA spends $4.8 billion on food each year, yet the majority of that funding flows to just a few large corporations—with poultry giant Tyson Foods taking the largest share? A new Friends of the Earth report highlights how USDA purchasing practices continue to concentrate power among a small number of multinational corporations, limiting opportunities for independent producers and undermining goals of fair competition, sustainability, and public health. We can do better! Supporting small and mid-sized producers strengthens local economies, promotes sustainability, and ensures a more resilient food system for everyone. The Clean Water Act was designed to protect all waters, but the #EPA is proposing changes that would weaken the law and allow pollution to flow freely into our rivers and lakes. Stronger protections are essential—the health of our communities and waterways depends on them. BREAKING: Tyson Foods will stop making allegedly false claims about its “net-zero by 2050” commitments and “climate-smart” beef in a settlement with Environmental Working Group. Industrial beef production is one of the largest contributors to climate change. Legal actions like this are critical for holding massive agriculture corporations accountable for their outsized climate impacts. Today represents a turning point in the fight to protect consumers from Big Ag’s climate greenwashing. We and our allies just reached a settlement on behalf of Environmental Working Group with Tyson Foods in which it agreed to stop making climate claims we alleged were misleading. Tyson controls a fifth of the country’s beef, pork, and chicken, and has been estimated to produce nearly as much methane pollution as major oil companies. Big Ag's climate impact has gone under the radar for too long, and we're proud to be taking action. Today’s settlement sends a message to other industrial ag emissions giants that we're looking out for consumers. New research from Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future shows the truth about factory farm gas digesters: sraproject.info/4492Klw They may reduce some pollutants, but they also worsen others, aren’t economically viable, and further entrench an industry already harming rural communities. 🚨 Bottom line: factory farm gas digesters are “pollution swapping” — not a real climate solution. Farmers and ranchers are forced to pay into federal checkoff programs in the name of promoting everyone’s product. In reality, those dollars often bankroll ads that harm independent producers while boosting corporate agribusiness. Checkoffs mostly funnel money to the lobbying and trade organizations that boost only the largest corporate producers—like the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, which took home $34.5 million of checkoff money in 2023. Checkoff ads hurt independent, small, and medium-sized farmers, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Research shows that simple changes to checkoff ads benefit all kinds of farmers, not just huge corporations. Our allies at FarmSTAND created a new Deep Dive to explore what checkoffs are, how they hurt farmers, and what we can do to fix it: farmstand.org/checkoff
