Caught on camera: Family left devastated after burglar steals $70K worth of valuables
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A local family says they are out thousands of dollars after they say a burglar broke into their Las Vegas home, just days before Thanksgiving.
News 3 spoke with the family, who says they had their home burglarized just after 5 p.m. on November 19. Out of safety concerns, the family did not want their identities shown, but they say they are still startled by the experience after losing around $70 thousand worth of prized possessions.
“My mom lost this Rolex she’s been keeping for like 20 years, and she just like felt so sad when she lost it because it was the only thing she ever cared about.”
Home surveillance video captured from both the exterior and interior of the home shows what appears to be a masked male suspect as he attempts to move several of the cameras out of view.
“It was crazy, she like told me, ‘Oh, you should check the camera because we didn’t know who it was or what actually happened, so when I looked in the camera, I saw this tall dude, and he knew where the cameras were.”
It was not just the cameras. The family says they believe the suspect knew what to look for, saying he went straight for some of their most prized possessions, which included designer items such as a Rolex and several designer bags.
“Channel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, everything felt so unreal. Everything felt so heartbreaking.”
Since the incident, the family says they have felt violated and uneasy, knowing the suspect has not been caught.
“These past two weeks, I was more aware of my surroundings, like when I was driving, Is anyone following us?”
The family has since filed a police report, but says they are optimistic someone may recognize the suspect and get their items back.
